WOLSELEY HORNET SWALLOW BODIED SPECIAL

WOLSELEY HORNET SWALLOW BODIED SPECIAL

I have for sale a very rare 1931 Wolseley Hornet with coachwork by Swallow Bodies.

The car was used on the 1932 MCC London Edinburgh Trial driven by WS Gilbert & is pictured in ‘The Light Car & Cyclecar’ report in the May 20 1932 issue. It was also used on the Lands End & Scarborough Trials of that year.

This is an early example with the short radiator, vertical dynamo engine, scuttle mounted tank & magna wheels. This is believed to be of only 21 two seaters built.

Restoration of this car was started many years ago & then stalled, It presents a rare opportunity for someone now to complete the work & return the car to the road.

The chassis has been overhauled, rebushed & repainted.

The engine & gearbox have also been stripped & overhauled

The bodywork has been repaired where required & now requires painting & assembly

Many new parts are included such as dashboard, headlights etc

The car is largely complete with the main missing parts being a hood frame, seats & trim.

With the car comes a box of paperwork including correspondence with previous owners, parts manuals, handbooks, copies of the Light Car magazine referred to above, various diagrams, an old registration log book. & V5

The car is on the DVLA website & carries its original registration number
